ACADEMIC, RESEARCH AND STUDENTS AFFAIRS DIVISION:

Post: Lecturer Grade 12

Duties and responsibilities of a Lecturer Grade 12:
  • Lecturing in area of specialization in accordance with the syllabus;
  • Coordinating course projects and practical work;
  • Preparing teaching/learning materials;
  • Setting, invigilating and marking examinations/assignments;
  • Carrying out research work in relevant field or specialization;
  • Preparing students progress reports;
  • Developing proposals for research funding;
  • Writing journal articles and books;
  • Presenting academic papers in conferences/seminars/workshops or symposia;
  • Developing and reviewing academic programmes/curricula; and
  • Supervising Tutorial/Junior Research Fellows and students.
  • Undertake consultancies with local and international organizations within areas of expertise to enhance the image of the University;
  • Establish collaborative linkages and networks through communication, collaboration and participation for resource mobilization for the University;
  • Present research findings and innovations to international conferences in order to increase the visibility of the University and to influence international policy environment for improvement of life;
  • Engage with local and international stakeholders to establish linkages and networks in order to work together for the betterment of communities in various ways such as research and innovations;
  • Execute budgets for student field trips for academic exposure and the application of theory;
  • Control and manage research budgets to ensure accountability of allocated funds.
 Requirements for appointment to the post of Lecturer Grade 12 in the Department of Medical Laboratory Sciences, School of Health Sciences:

Must :

  • An earned Ph.D. in Medical Laboratory Sciences with specialization in Hematology/Blood Transfusion Sciences and Histology and Cytology from an accredited and recognized University; and
  • Be registered with Kenya Medical Laboratory Technicians and Technologists Board (KMLTTB) and with a valid membership certificate.
  • Satisfy the requirements of Chapter Six of the Constitution of Kenya on Leadership and Integrity.

OR

  • A Master’s degree in Medical Laboratory Sciences speciality in Hematology/ Blood Transfusion Sciences, Histology and Cytology from a recognized/accredited University with at least three (3) years teaching experience at University level.
  • A minimum of twenty (24) publication points, of which at least sixteen (16) should be from refereed journal papers
  • Registered with Kenya Medical Laboratory Technicians and Technologists Board (KMLTTB) and with a valid membership certificate.
  • Satisfy the requirements of Chapter Six of the Constitution of Kenya on Leadership and Integrity.
Requirements for appointment to the post of Lecturer Grade 12 in the Department of Public Health, School of Health Sciences:

Must :

  • An earned Ph.D. in Occupational Safety and Health from an accredited and recognized University;
  • Be registered with the Public Health Officers Technicians Council (PHOTC) and with a valid membership certificate.
  • Satisfy the requirements of Chapter Six of the Constitution of Kenya on Leadership and Integrity.

OR

  • A Master’s degree in Occupational Safety and Health from a recognized/accredited University with at least three (3) years teaching experience at University level.
  • A minimum of twenty (24) publication points, of which at least sixteen (16) should be from refereed journal papers
  • Be registered with the Public Health Officers Technicians Council (PHOTC) and with a valid membership certificate.
  • Satisfy the requirements of Chapter Six of the Constitution of Kenya on Leadership and Integrity.
Requirements for appointment to the post of Lecturer Grade 12 in the Department of Mechanical Engineering, School of Engineering and Technology:

Must :

  • An earned Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering from an accredited and recognized University; and
  • Be registered with Engineering Board of Kenya (EBK).
  • Satisfy the requirements of Chapter Six of the Constitution of Kenya on Leadership and Integrity.

OR

  • A Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering from a recognized/accredited University with at least three (3) years teaching experience at University level.
  • A minimum of twenty (24) publication points, of which at least sixteen (16) should be from refereed journal papers
  • Registered with Engineering Board of Kenya (EBK).
  • Satisfy the requirements of Chapter Six of the Constitution of Kenya on Leadership and Integrity.
Requirements for appointment to the post of Lecturer Grade 12 in the Department of Economics, School of Business and Economics:

Must:

  • Have an earned PhD in Economics or equivalent degree qualification in the relevant field from an accredited and recognized University;
  • Demonstrate competency in economic theory and quantitative methods as well as applied courses in Economics; with these areas of study constituting the coursework component of the postgraduate studies.
  • Be registered or registerable with the relevant professional body (where applicable).
  • Satisfy the requirements of Chapter Six of the Constitution of Kenya on Leadership and Integrity.
Requirements for appointment to the post of Lecturer Grade 12 in the Department of Business and Entrepreneurship, School of Business and Economics:

Must:

  • Have an earned PhD in Accounting or equivalent degree qualification in the relevant field from an accredited and recognized University;
  • Demonstrate competency in Financial and Management Accounting, Auditing, Costing, Tax Accounting and Accounting Information Systems; with these area of study constituting the coursework component of the postgraduate studies.
  • Be registered or registerable with the relevant professional body (where applicable).
  • Satisfy the requirements of Chapter Six of the Constitution of Kenya on Leadership and Integrity.
Requirements for appointment to the post of Lecturer Grade 12 in the Department of Geology, School of Agriculture, Environment, Water And Natural Resources:

Must:

  • Have an earned PhD in Geology or equivalent degree qualification in the relevant field from an accredited and recognized University;
  • Have an Masters degree in Geology or equivalent degree qualification in the relevant field from an accredited and recognized University;
  • Have an Bachelor’s degree in Geology or equivalent degree qualification in the relevant field from an accredited and recognized University;
  • Be registered or registerable with the relevant professional body (where applicable).

ACADEMIC, RESEARCH AND STUDENTS AFFAIRS DIVISION:

SCHOOL OF HEALTH SCIENCES

CLINICAL INSTRUCTOR GRADE 5/6 (1 POST)

This position is responsible for instructing and evaluating the clinical training of health sciences students on Nutrition and Dietetics .The Clinical Instructor Grade 5/6 shall:

  • Coordinate with students and manage all communication with same and provide optimal level of training through practical training.
  • Assist academic staff to analyze student requirements and ensure appropriate resources in facility for same and assist in various laboratory activities.
  • Prepare all student practicals and ensure compliance to all academic course programs and evaluate performance of all trainees in clinical training.
  • Develop and maintain good professional relations with students and employees of the school and participate in all practical academic processes.
  • Arrange the laboratory apparatus and models in an orderly manner for smooth processes during the practical sessions.
  • Provide support for practical learning in science courses by facilitating practical sessions to ensure efficient delivery of the content matter.
  • Assist in invigilation of practical examination sessions to enhance integrity and quality in the examination process.
  • Provide a conducive and safe learning environment in the laboratory to ensure conformity with  the stipulated occupational, health and safety standards.
  • Collect experimental  specimens and samples using stipulated standard operating procedures to be used for practical demonstration.
Requirements for appointment to the post of Clinical Instructor Grade 5/6
  • Diploma in Nutrition and Dietetics from a recognized institution.
  • Registered with Kenya Nutritionists and Dieticians Institute (KNDI) and with a valid membership licence.
  • Must be computer proficient.
  • Satisfy the requirements of Chapter Six of the Constitution of Kenya on Leadership and Integrity.

SCHOOL OF ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY

TECHNOLOGIST GRADE 7/8 (2 POSTS)- (Civil Construction and Environmental Engineering/ Agricultural and Bio Systems Engineering)

Technologist Grade 7/8 shall:

  • To assist in conducting practicals in the School of Engineering and Technology.
  • To ensure that the area of jurisdiction is secure and clean.
  • Any other duties as assigned by the Principal Technologist
Requirements for appointment to the post of Technologist Grade 7/8
  • Higher National Diploma in Civil Engineering/ Building Technology or

or Agricultural Engineering

  • Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering/ Building Technology Or Agricultural Engineering.
  • Must be computer literate.

ADMINISTRATION, HUMAN RESOURCE MANAGEMENT DIVISION

LEGAL DEPARTMENT

LEGAL OFFICER GRADE 11 (1 POST)

Responsible to the Senior Legal Officer on all legal matters. The Legal Officer Grade 11 shall:

  • Undertaking legal matters
  • Drafting legal brief
  • Advising the University on legal matters.
  • Drafting lease agreements.
Requirements for Appointment for Legal Officer Grade 11
  • Must be an holder of LLB degree from a recognised University or equivalent.
  • Registered with the Kenya School of Law (KSL)
  • Must be an Advocate of the High Court of Kenya with a valid practising licence.
  • Two (2) years working experience as a Senior Legal Assistant Grade 9/10.
  • Must be computer literate.

INFORMATION COMMUNICATION TECHNOLOGY(ICT) DIRECTORATE

ASSISTANT ICT OFFICER GRADE 9/10 (1 POST)

Reporting to the Systems Analyst Grade 11, the Assistant ICT Officer Grade 9 shall:

  • Design and develop new systems by choosing and configuring hardware and software for effective integration and resource mobilization.
  • Oversee the installation and configuration of new systems to customize them for organizational use and maintain user friendly systems.
  • Conduct system testing to ensure the system works as expected and minimize on organizational faults that may arise in future.
  • Conduct training of the system end users and write instructional manuals on how to use the systems to run the University operations.
  • Consult and determine the role of the IT system in the organization by analyzing processes and procedures in order to develop solutions for arising ICT issues.
  • Research on emerging technologies to decide if installations can increase the organization’s efficiency and effective running of its operations.
  • Devise ways to add new functionality to existing computer systems by analyzing existing system architecture for enhancement.
  • Maintain the ICT systems by ensuring patches are updated for effective operations and service delivery across all departments in the University.

Requirements for appointment:

  • Masters Degree in Computer Science/Information Technology or its equivalent from a recognized institution, with at least three (3) years working experience.
  • Must have a detailed understanding of ERP.
  • Satisfy the requirements of Chapter Six of the Constitution of Kenya on Leadership and Integrity.

TRANSPORT

Post: TRACTOR OPERATOR GRADE III/IV -1 POSITION

The Tractor Operator Grade 3/4, shall:

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Driving assigned vehicles.
  • Maintaining work ticket.
  • Maintaining vehicle cleanliness
  • Drawing scheduled maintenance.
  • Updating insurance and other licences.
  • Maintaining safety and security of vehicles.

Requirements for Appointment

  • Have at least KCSE level of education or equivalent
  • Have a clean valid driving license classes B,C,E and D and PSV.
  • Have at least three (3) years satisfactory tractor driving experience after obtaining license.
  • Certificate of good conduct.
  • A Certificate in Occupational Test Grade III and First Aid will be added advantage.
  • Must be at least twenty one (21) years old.

Post: DRIVER GRADE III/IV - 1 POSITION

Requirements for appointment for the post of Driver Grade III-IV

Must have:

  • At least KCSE level of education or equivalent
  • A clean valid driving license classes BCE and PSV
  • At least three (3) years satisfactory previous driving experience after obtaining license.
  • Certificate of good conduct
  • A certificate in Occupational Test Grade III
  • and First Aid will be added advantage.
  • Must be at least 21 years old
