A) ACADEMIC, RESEARCH AND INNOVATION DIVISION:

1. Post: Lecturer Grade 12A

Duties and responsibilities of a Lecturer Grade 12A:

1. Lecturing in the following areas of specialization in accordance with the syllabus:

a) Kenya LL.B. Programme Core subjects,

b) Electoral law,

c) Sustainable development law,

d) Environmental law,

e) Legal issues including resolution of disputes arising from dryland agriculture,

f) Legal issues including resolution of disputes arising from management and conservation of natural resources and the environment including climate change and adaptation, use of technology in these areas etc.

2. Coordinating course projects and practical work;

3. Preparing teaching/learning materials;

4. Setting, invigilating and marking examinations/assignments;

5. Carrying out research work in relevant field or specialization;

6. Preparing students progress reports;

7. Developing proposals for research funding;

8. Writing journal articles and books;

9. Presenting academic papers in conferences/seminars/workshops or symposia;

10. Developing and reviewing academic programmes/curricula; and

11. Supervising Tutorial/Junior Research Fellows and students.

12. Undertake consultancies with local and international organizations within areas of expertise to enhance the image of the University;

13. Establish collaborative linkages and networks through communication, collaboration and participation for resource mobilization for the University;

14. Present research findings and innovations to international conferences in order to increase the visibility of the University and to influence international policy environment for improvement of life;

15. Engage with local and international stakeholders to establish linkages and networks in order to work together for the betterment of communities in various ways such as research and innovations;

16. Execute budgets for student field trips for academic exposure and the application of theory;

17. Controling and managing research budgets to ensure accountability of allocated funds.

 

POST OF LECTURER GRADE 12A IN THE SCHOOL OF LAW- REF: SEKU/ADV/AC/1/01/2023 (2 POSITIONS)

Requirements for appointment.

For appointment to this position the candidate must:

1. Have an earned Ph.D. in law from an accredited and recognized University.

2. Satisfy the requirements of Chapter Six of the Constitution of Kenya on Leadership and Integrity.

OR

1. Have a Master’s Degree in law (LL.M.) from an accredited and recognized University with at least three (3) years teaching experience at University level.

2. A minimum of twenty four (24) publication points (in relevant areas of law), of which at least sixteen (16) should be from refereed journal papers,

  1. Be registered with Law Society of Kenya and with a valid practising license,

4. Satisfy the requirements of Chapter Six of the Constitution of Kenya on Leadership and Integrity.

NB: PUBLICATION POINTS:

a) One university level scholarly book = 24 publication points;

b) Patented invention or innovation = 16 publications points;

c) One tertiary level scholarly book = 8 publication points;

d) One article in a refereed journal = 8 publication points;

e) Refereed learning modules = 6 publication points;

f) One chapter in a university level scholarly book = 6 publication points;

g) One reviewed conference paper = 4 publication points;

h) One secondary school level text book = 4 publication points;

i) Short communication in refereed journal = 4 publication points;

j) Consultancy and project reports = 4 publication points;

k) Refereed exhibitions and performances = 4 publication points;

l) One primary level primary book = 2 publication points;

m) Editorship of a book or conference proceedings = 2 publication points;

n) Scholarly presentations at conferences/workshops/seminars= 2 publication points;

o) One non-reviewed conference paper = 2 publication points.

p) Book review published in refereed journals = 1publication point.
