A) ACADEMIC AND STUDENTS AFFAIRS DIVISION:

1. Post: Lecturer Grade 12
Responsible for the following duties and responsibilities

  1. Teach, assess and examine students and participate in activities related to the development of teaching materials and teaching methods.
  2. Supervise postgraduate students.
  3. Participate in the development of curricula and design syllabi in the units taught in the department.
  4. Develop strategies that will ensure quality research and development and also coordinate the research and development activities at the department.
  5. Make significant contribution to the development of programmes.
  6. Attract external research funding.
  7. Publish research findings in high quality peer-reviewed journals.
  8. Liaise closely with other teaching, technical and administrative staff to ensure quality teaching.
  9. Undertake research, innovation and consultancy (individual or collaborative) work approved by University management.
  10. Be academic advisor to his/her department.
  11. Develop contacts with scholars of other universities.
  12. Undertake any other duties and responsibilities consistent with the nature of the post

Requirements for appointment for the post of Lecturer Grade 12 Must have a:

  1. An earned Ph.D. or equivalent degree qualification in the relevant field from an accredited and recognized university; and
  2. Be registered with the Kenya Medical Laboratory Technicians and Technologists Board (KMLTTB) for Lecturers in the School of Nursing Sciences and Public Health.
  3. Be registered with the Engineering Board of Kenya for Lecturer in the School of Engineering and Technology.
    OR
  4. A Master’s degree in the relevant field from a recognized/accredited university (in special cases) with at least three (3) years teaching experience at University level.
  5. A minimum of twenty (24) publication points, of which at least sixteen (16) should be from refereed journal papers
  6. Registered with the Kenya Medical Laboratory Technicians and Technologists Board (KMLTTB) for Lecturers in the School of Nursing Sciences and Public Health.
  7. Registered with the Engineering Board of Kenya for Lecturer in the School of Engineering and Technology.
  8. Satisfy the requirements of Chapter Six of the Constitution of Kenya on Leadership and Integrity.

NB: PUBLICATION POINTS:

  1. One university level scholarly book = 24 publication points;
  2. Patented invention or innovation = 16 publications points;
  3. One tertiary level scholarly book = 8 publication points;
  4. One article in a refereed journal = 8 publication points;
  5. Refereed learning modules = 6 publication points;
  6. One chapter in a university level scholarly book = 6 publication points;
  7. One reviewed conference paper = 4 publication points;
  8. One secondary school level text book = 4 publication points;
  9. Short communication in refereed journal = 4 publication points;
  10. Consultancy and project reports = 4 publication points;
  11. Refereed exhibitions and performances = 4 publication points;
  12. One primary level primary book = 2 publication points;
  13. Editorship of a book or conference proceedings = 2 publication points;
  14. Scholarly presentations at conferences/workshops/seminars= 2 publication points;
  15. One non-reviewed conference paper = 2 publication points.
  16. Book review published in refereed journals = 1publication point.

2. Post: Medical Laboratory Technologist Grade 5

Responsible for the following duties and responsiblities:

  1. Arrange the laboratory apparatus and models in an orderly manner for smooth processes during the practical session.
  2. Provide support for practical learning in science courses by facilitating practical sessions to ensure efficient delivery of the content matter.
  3. Assist in invigilation of practical examination sessions to enhance integrity and quality in the examination process.
  4. Provide a conducive and safe learning environment in the laboratory to ensure conformity with the stipulated occupational,health and safety standards.
  5. Collect experimental specimens and samples using stipulated standard operating procedures to be used for practical demonstration.

Requirements for appointment to the post of Medical Laboratory Technologist Grade 5

  1. Diploma in Medical Laboratory Technology or its equivalent from a recognized institution.
  2. Membership to Medical Laboratory Technicians and Technologist Board (KMLTTB).
  3. Must be computer proficient.
  4. Satisfy the requirements of Chapter Six of the Constitution of Kenya on Leadership and Integrity.
