1. LECTURER GRADE 6A (FORMERLY GRADE 12A)

 (a) Terms of Employment

The successful candidates will be engaged on permanent and pensionable terms.

(b) Duties and Responsibilities of Lecturer Grade 12A:

  1. Lecturing in area of specialization in accordance with the syllabus;
  2. Coordinating course projects and practical work;
  3. Preparing teaching/learning materials;
  4. Setting, invigilating and marking examinations/assignments;
  5. Carrying out research work in relevant field or specialization;
  6. Preparing students progress reports;
  7. Developing proposals for research funding;
  8. Writing journal articles and books;
  9. Presenting academic papers in conferences/seminars/workshops or symposia;
  10. Developing and reviewing academic programmes/curricula; and
  11. Supervising Tutorial/Junior Research Fellows and students.
  12. Undertake consultancies with local and international organizations within areas of expertise to enhance the image of the University;
  13. Establish collaborative linkages and networks through communication, collaboration and participation for resource mobilization for the University;
  14. Present research findings and innovations to international conferences in order to increase the visibility of the University and to influence international policy environment for improvement of life;
  15. Engage with local and international stakeholders to establish linkages and networks in order to work together for the betterment of communities in various ways such as research and innovations;
  16. Execute budgets for student field trips for academic exposure and the application of theory;
  17. Control and manage research budgets to ensure accountability of allocated funds.

 1. SCHOOL OF AGRICULTURE, ENVIRONMENT, WATER AND NATURAL RESOURCES

POST OF LECTURER GRADE 6A (FORMERLY GRADE 12A) IN THE DEPARTMENT OF GEOLOGY AND METEOROLOGY, SCHOOL OF AGRICULTURE, ENVIRONMENT, WATER AND NATURAL RESOURCES -REF: SEKU/ADV/AC/1/2/2024 (1 POST)

SPECIALIZATION: GEOLOGY

(a) Requirements for Appointment

For appointment to this position, one must:

  1. Have an earned PhD in Geology or equivalent degree qualification in the relevant field from an accredited and recognized University;
  2. Have a Masters degree in Geology or equivalent degree qualification in the relevant field from an accredited and recognized University;
  3. Have an Bachelor’s degree in Geology or equivalent degree qualification in the relevant field from an accredited and recognized University;
  4. Be registered or registerable with the relevant professional body (where applicable).
  5. Satisfy the requirements of Chapter Six of the Constitution of Kenya on Leadership and Integrity.

POST OF LECTURER GRADE 6A IN THE DEPARTMENT OF MECHANICAL AND MANUFACTURING ENGINEERING - REF: SEKU/ADV/AC/2/2/2024 (1 POSITION)

SPECIALIZATION: MECHANICAL ENGINEERING

Requirements for appointment.

For appointment to this position the candidate must:

  1. Have an earned Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering or related field from an accredited and recognized University.
  2. Be registered with the Engineers Board of Kenya and have a valid membership certificate.
  3. Satisfy the requirements of Chapter Six of the Constitution of Kenya on Leadership and Integrity.

OR

  1. Have a Master’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field from an accredited and recognized University with at least three (3) years teaching experience at University level.
  2. A minimum of twenty-four (24) publication points, of which at least sixteen (16) should be from refereed journal papers
  3. Be registered with the Engineers Board of Kenya and have a valid membership certificate.
  4. Satisfy the requirements of Chapter Six of the Constitution of Kenya on Leadership and Integrity.

POST OF LECTURER GRADE 6A IN THE DEPARTMENT OF ELECTRICAL ENGINEERING, SCHOOL OF ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY - REF: SEKU/ADV/AC/3/2/2024 (1 POSITION)

SPECIALIZATION: ELECTRICAL ENGINEERING

Requirements for appointment.

For appointment to this position the candidate must:

  1. Have an earned Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering or related field from an accredited and recognized University.
  2. Be registered with the Engineers Board of Kenya and have a valid membership certificate.
  3. Satisfy the requirements of Chapter Six of the Constitution of Kenya on Leadership and Integrity.

OR

  1. Have a Master’s Degree in Electrical Engineering or related field from an accredited and recognized University with at least three (3) years teaching experience at University level.

POST: ASSISTANT SPORTS OFFICER GRADE 9 (FORMERLY GRADE 7) - REF: SEKU/ADV/AD/4/2/2024 - 1 POSITION

The successful candidates will be engaged on Permanent and Pensionable terms.

b) Job specification

The duties and responsibilities entail assisting in:

  1. Collating of information for the preparation of a quarterly sports.
  2. Organizing daily sports training programs for students to ensure that students are trained effectively in readiness for competitions as scheduled.
  3. Distributing sports’ wear and equipment on a regular basis to replace worn out jerseys and faulty equipment thereby promoting sports activity.
  4. Booking transport for sports outing on a weekly basis to ensure that participants attend competitions in time.
  5. Inspecting sports fields and their usability to ensure that any problems are fixed and they are properly utilized on a daily basis.
  6. Supervising the marking and routine maintenance of sports facilities to ensure they are always in good conditions in readiness for competitions.
  7. Carrying out in regularly organizing sporting events and creating awareness of the sporting activities in the University to encourage participation by students.
  8. Identifying and recruiting potential students into different sports to encourage participation and improve the status of sports in the University as and when necessary.

(c) Person Specification

For appointment to this post, a candidate must:

  1. Have a Bachelor’s Degree in Physical Education or its equivalent from an accredited and recognized university.
  2. Have sound knowledge of coaching and training a wide range of sports disciplines.
  3. Have technical, specialist or analytical skills acquired through tertiary education or the equivalent experience.
  4. Be Proficient in computer applications.
  5. Satisfy the requirements of Chapter Six of the Constitution of Kenya on Leadership and Integrity upon successful appointment.

POST OF SENIOR SPORTS OFFICER GRADE 7 (FORMERLY GRADE 11)- REF: SEKU/ADV/AD/5/2/2024- 1 POSITION

Terms of Employment

The successful candidates will be engaged on Permanent and Pensionable terms.

(b) Job specification

The duties and responsibilities entail assisting in:

  1. Promoting SEKU sports programming.
  2. Maintaining standards for SEKU sports.
  3. Attending weekly staff meetings.
  4. Collating of information for the preparation of a quarterly sports department reports to be submitted to the Deputy Vice-Chancellor, (ARI).
  5. Preparing weekly training programmes for all University teams and maintain an attendance schedule for the teams to ascertain training progress.
  6. Preparing reports of the weekly scheduled meetings and archive them in the department’s repository for future reference by the University management.
  7. Ensuring the sports facilities are regularly maintained and marked appropriately for use during training and games competition.
  8. Archiving sports information, records and artifacts in the institution to keep up to date records for future reference in the institution.
  9. Providing recreational and leisure time opportunities for both students and staff to ensure satisfaction of leisure needs and build a spirit of togetherness within the institution.
  10. Ensuring the event calendar is prepared clearly to outline the events and activities throughout the year.
  11. Providing information to the Senior Games Officer on games equipment that need to be procured or repaired to ensure availability of equipment for sports activities.
  12. Preparing and enter teams in local, national and international championships to represent the University in curriculum activities.

b) Person Specification

For appointment to this post, a candidate must:

  1. Have a Master’s Degree in Physical Education or its equivalent from an accredited and recognized university.
  2. Have a Bachelor’s Degree in Physical Education or its equivalent from an accredited and recognized university.
  3. At least six (6) years relevant working experience.
  4. Supervisory course lasting for at least two (2) weeks cumulatively.
  5. Have sound knowledge of coaching and training a wide range of sports disciplines.
  6. Have technical, specialist or analytical skills acquired through tertiary education or the equivalent experience.
  7. Be computer proficient and conversant with ERP system.
  8. Satisfy the requirements of Chapter Six of the Constitution of Kenya on Leadership and Integrity upon successful appointment.
