A seven member team from our Universities was selected to be part of the participants of the Digital Education Learning activity in Kenya. The project implementers were the Open University (UK), Leonard Chesire and the International Labour Organisation (ILO). The participants went through rigorous learning and sat for an examination.
The two day learning workshop was the culmination of it all with the participants from different public universities getting a chance to showcase presentations on how they would put into practice what they learnt and implement it in their respective universities.
We are proud of Team SEKU for doing such an exemplary job!!

South Eastern Kenya University invites applications from students interested in the work-study program for January 2023 to April 2023 Semester Academic Year.

Eligibility Criteria

  1. Evidence of financial need.
  2. Be a full-time student at SEKU.
  3. Availability of work study vacancy in the following sections: Central Services, Library, Kitchen, Games and Sports, Choir, Landscaping or University Farm.
  4. Must maintain high level of discipline during the programme.
  5. Must have satisfactory academic standing.
  6. Must have completed first semester of the first year in the University.

Application Procedure

  1. Visit the University website and log in.
  2. Fill all the information requested for in the Online Work Study Application Form (OWSAF).
  3. Attach any relevant support documents in the prescribed places in the Online Work Study Application Form (OWSAF).
  4. After filling all the required information and inserting attachment online, please click on submit to complete the process.

Remuneration

  1. The students shall be paid the prevailing government minimum wage for skilled and unskilled (where applicable) workers.
  2. The average work schedule shall be from 10 to 16 hours a week (1.25 to 2 days /week).

The 2022/2023 SEKUSA Student Governing Council Officials were sworn into office in a function that was well attended by the University management, staff and students. Taking oath of office, the 2022/2023 Chairman, Mr. Tony Muvengei thanked his predecessor, Mr. Brian Kibet for steering the student community through his exemplary leadership to its current great state. He promised to work together with the University Management and the students for the overall good of the institution and those that will come later.
The Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Geoffrey Muluvi lauded the outgoing Student Governing Council for choosing dialogue with the management as a way of handling student matters. Fresh nominations for position of Social Welfare Secretary for Sekusa Students’ Governing Council (sgc) Elections Acadamic Year 2022/2023

Article 23 (2) of the South Eastern Kenya University Students’ Association (SEKUSA) Constitution requires that the Social Welfare Secretary SHALL be elected from students with special needs.
None of the applicants met this requirement. Therefore, the Electoral Committee is accepting fresh nominees for this post. Nomination forms should be returned by Friday 21st October at 3.00pm.
