CALL FOR POEMS, SPOKEN WORD AND SONGS
THEME: NATIONAL VALUES AND PRINCIPLES OF GOVERNANCE

The Kenya Institute for Public Policy Research and Analysis (KIPPRA), in collaboration with South Eastern Kenya University (SEKU) has organized a research and public policy workshop which will take place on the 21st and 22nd February 2024, at SEKU University. This workshop is under the KIPPRA flagship programme called KIPPRA Mentorship Programme for Universities and TVETS (KMPUTs). The programme seeks to mentor university and TVET students for effective participation in public policy formulation, research, policy analysis, and policy discussions. The event brings together university students, TVET students and lecturers, government, and private sector to among other things a sensitization on Article 10 of the Constitution on “National Values and Principles of Governance”.

This is a call for interested students at SEKU to submit original poems, spoken word and songs on any form of performance and art that speak to Article 10 of the Constitution, on the 17 national values and principles of governance, for consideration. The entries will be evaluated, and the top performers will be selected for presentation during the event.

The entries should meet the following criteria:

  1. Include full name, university, school/department, registration number, university email, and mobile phone number of the presenter(s).
  2. An audio or video clip not exceeding 3 minutes.
  3. A student will submit only one audio or video clip.
  4. Each submission to address at least 4 national values and principles of governance.

The deadline for submission of the entry is 5th February 2024, after which they will undergo a review process and successful entries will be notified by 12th February 2024.
