Sustainable strategies for overcoming financing crisis in Kenya Universities
Dr Chege, notes that the challenge of finances is not unique to Kenya only, it's also rampant in most African universities and notably 16 out of 26 South African universities are facing a financial crisis.
From research, the financial options available that have been adopted by highly successful universities include, generating funds internally mainly from research, endowment funds, from innovations, consultancies, investment instruments e.t.c. The other options would be developing of strong links with the corporate world and developing commercial oriented ventures related to the core business of the university which is training, research and community service
